Former PM of Australia Mr. Tony Abbott pays a courtesy visit to Gujarat CM Mr. Vijay Rupani at Gandhinagar
Gandhinagar, Gujarat: Former Prime Minister of Australia Mr. Tony Abbott paid a courtesy visit to Gujarat Chief Minister Mr. Vijay Rupani at Gandhinagar today. To further strengthen trade relations between Gujarat and Australia, Mr. Tony Abbott held discussions with Chief Minister Mr. Vijay Rupani.
Mr. Rupani said that Australia has been a partner country of Gujarat for many years in the Vibrant Summit for Global Investment. A large number of Gujaratis live in Australia.
The then Chief Minister and Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi has served as the Chief Minister of Gujarat for 13 years and it is under his visionary leadership that Gujarat today has become a role model of India’s development.
Giving details about investment opportunities in the solar energy sector in Gujarat, the Chief Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi, a renewable energy park with a capacity of 30,000 MW is to be set up in 60,000 hectares of land in Kutch. Leading companies from all over India are going to invest in it. The GIFT City of Gandhinagar also holds an important position in India in the field of financial services.
CM said that Gujarat holds a leading position in the tourism sector. Dholavira, a Harappan-era town in Kutch, has recently been declared as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Earlier, Champaner Fort and Rani ki Vav in Gujarat had been given the status of World Heritage Site by UNESCO and Ahmedabad has been given the status of India’s first Heritage City.
CM also assured all necessary cooperation for investment in Gujarat. He expressed confidence that the relations between Gujarat and Australia would be further strengthened in near future.
Former Prime Minister of Australia Tony Abbott said that we are committed to strengthen Australia’s economic and trade relations with Gujarat-India. Mr Abbott had an extensive discussion on the topics about enhancing bilateral trade and investment opportunities in various fields, enhancing economic cooperation between Australia and Gujarat under a comprehensive strategic partnership.
Mr. Tony Abbott has been appointed as special envoy to further strengthen Australia’s economic and trade ties with India.
Gujarat Chief Secretary Mr. Anil Mukim briefed Mr. Abbott about various investment opportunities in Gujarat and Gujarat’s industrial policy.
On this occasion, the High Commissioner to India Mr. Barry O’Farrell AO, Australian Consulate General in Mumbai, Consul General Mr. Peter Truswell as well as the Economic Councillor at Australian High Commission in Delhi Mr. Hugh Boylan joined.
Chief Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Mr. K. Kailashnathan, Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Mr. M. K. Das, MD of GMDC Mr. Roopwant Singh, MD of iNDEXTb Smt. Neelam Rani and top officials were present on this occasion.
